A long drive, a UFO and a stopover at Rockhampton Zoo – QLD

One of the longest drives we’ve done to make a booking we had in Airlie beach the next day. We drove 625km from Bundaberg to Mackay in a day. We clicked over 10,000 kms for this whole trip! The day started weird; following an oversized truck for ages with what looked like a UFO on the back! Odd!

We always stop at the Miriam Vale playground on our way through this area, there’s room to park your van, toilets and cafe to grab lunch while the kids play. Recommend!

I also thought 2 minute noodles for a driving snack was a good idea, because it takes ages to eat…that was until I remembered I have babies who eat like animals! It was not a good idea haha

The stop over at the FREE Rockhampton Zoo was great, plenty of animals to see including, gorillas, dingoes, koalas, a bird aviary, all free.

To top the long day off Dave lost his sunglasses and had to drive into a setting sun wearing our 3 year olds HAHA

We made it to Mackay right on sunset! Massive day but we made up a lot of ground to make our next booking on time. Some days are not glamorous out there travelling!
