We stopped in at Barcaldine for lunch and to checkout the town where my mum was born. We saw the Tree of Knowledge where the Labour Party was formed during a sheerer’s strike in 1891. The tree was 200 years old when it was poisoned in 2006. In 2009 they created this sheltered memorial over the preserved trunk.
