Stayed at: Discovery Parks – Moama West
In Echuca we went on a restored Paddlesteamer called the PS Emmylou down the Murray River. We were able to explore the boat and could see the engine room and the paddle wheel.
Mr H had a turn at steering the boat, even tooted the horn, poor little K almost jumped out of her skin it was so loud! It was a wonderful cruise down the river looking at all the other boats being worked on and watching the bush go by.
The Emmylou is driven by a superbly restored 1906, 16HP Marshall steam engine. PS Emmylou, the world’s only wood-fired cruising paddlesteamer reminds us of the romantic days of the paddlesteamers and is now an Australian Icon of the River.
