Not far from the showgrounds in Finch Hatton (inland from Mackay) is the Finch Hatton Gorge; is a dirt road out with about 3 water crossings, not too deep, we saw 2wd cars in the car park. A easy1.6 km walk will bring you to the Araluen waterfall and swimming area. There’s more falls further into the park but we were there on sunset and ran out of daylight. Such a pretty area to explore, loved it.
