What a wonderful day out! We took a boat out to Fitzroy Island for a day of snorkelling on my birthday. It’s just 30 mins out of Cairns; on an airconditioned ferry, we all get sea sick so the short boat ride was much more appealing than the hours out to the reef world pontoons. We chose a picnic lunch package and it was great with heaps of food, we each got a box with a wrap, roll, apple and muesli bar and a drink.
The coral here right off the beach is the best I’ve seen so close to shore. I really enjoyed seeing all the coral, fish and clams. Harlan did surprisingly well snorkelling and loved seeing the fish. Keira spent the day collecting random pieces of nature, not quite as confident with the snorkel yet. The whole beach is just pieces of coral and made the coolest sound. We’ll be back Fitzroy, would love to stay here a few nights!
