Julia creek was a few ‘firsts’ for us, our first outdoor bath experience; including wine & cheese platter. (Note: the baths do not face sunset, we knew and expected this, but others were disappointed) And we witnessed a sun halo for the first time, a full circle rainbow around the sun, which was amazing to stand under.
The park we stayed in was opposite the town pool, on check-in you are given tokens for free entry to the pool, but unfortunately the splash park is no longer working. Also next to the Julia Creek Caravan Park is a bike safety course with working traffic lights and mini signs, pretty cool for kids with bikes. The temperatures this week were in the 40s, the pool and powered site was a must. We did get one great storm in the distance we liked watching, loving the outback storms.
In town, the info centre has great audio and visual displays throughout a garden and inside buildings. The town has 2 great playgrounds, and we loved the food at Corrina’s Cafe in the main street. A great 3 night stay in Julia Creek.
