While visiting Carnarvon Gorge we stayed at Takarakka Campground for 7 nights. They have power and water sites, flushing toilets, showers, a little shop and outdoor bar. It’s a lovely shady campground that is quiet and close to the main attractions.
Onsite you can spot platypus, echidnas and wallabies. It was a great camp to base ourselves in the area. Do book ahead online or by email as the park is booked out months in advance for more than 1 night.
Also bring all the food you need for your stay, the shop has some basics and frozen bread & longlife milk, but no take away or cooked food. There are pre-booked dinners you can organise ahead of time though. A cafe down the road has short opening hours and a small menu but also no takeaway, they have lovely cakes though.
